Seasonal Hooks

  • International Women's Month - March

Inspirational success stories - If comfortable, we would like to share with press the personal journeys of women who have successfully transitioned from Universal Credit to careers in hospitality at Raan.

Raan’s rising stars - Work with a local photographer to capture candid shots of the women for a photo exhibition that will be displayed in the restaurant throughout the month. Pair each image with their personal success stories.

Networking brunch - Utilise the co-working level to host a Women’s Networking Brunch on IWD. We can organise guest speakers who can offer insight into career development, and entrepreneurship

  • Holi - March

We recommend hosting different activities across different floors of Raan for Holi.

Utilise the private event space for a Holi Yoga Retreat - blending peacefulness of yoga with the positive energy of Holi. Kick off the day with sunrise yoga, followed by a mindfulness and meditation session to set intentions for the day ahead. Vibrant brunch to follow.

In the restaurant - serve up a special Holi menu throughout the day.

Using the co-working space - set up art stations for participants to create their own colourful Holi murals. Partner with a local artist to instruct the class, using coloured powders.

In the basement bar - we recommend live music and entertainment from Bollywood Vibes in the evening alongside vibrant Holi cocktails.

If possible, it would be great for the staff to do a Colour Burst Ceremony outside - everyone tosses their coloured powders in the air for a great photo opp.

  • Earth Day - April

Waste Reduction Challenge - Raan to host a sustainable dining event on Earth Day that shines a light on its commitment to reducing food waste.

Raan’s chefs will be tasked with sourcing ingredients typically considered food waste and discarded - vegetable scraps, fruit peels, bread ends, etc. The chefs will work together to create a unique menu using only those ingredients. They will also be challenged with ensuring the dishes are visually beautiful and flavourful.

Within the menus, we suggest incorporating an educational element - explaining the environmental impact of food waste and the importance of reducing it.

If possible, we could have guests dine by candlelight to conserve energy.

Additionally, we recommend hosting an Earth Day panel discussion on the working floor with key industry leaders - inviting members of the public to purchase tickets and come along.

  • BBQ Season - May

As Raan is a Punjabi Smokehouse, it’s only fitting that we celebrate BBQ season.

BBQ & Brew Nights - team up with local breweries like East London Brew Co, Five Points, and Hackney Post on tap takeovers, served alongside the delicious smoked meats.

BBQ Tasting Events - Customers can sample a range of the Punjabi smoked meats and learn about the traditional smoking techniques used at Raan for £xx.

BBQ Masterclasses - if possible, it would be great for the chefs to host a masterclass where participants can learn the art of smoking and grilling Punjabi meats, followed by sitting down for a meal.

  • Fashion Week - September

To celebrate LFW in September, we recommend shining a light on sustainable fashion.

Team up with students from the London College of Fashion to host a fashion show at Raan, where the students’ collections are made entirely of sustainable materials.

Utilise the co-working space to host sustainable fashion talks with fashion experts and influencers. Topics can include the impact of fast fashion and the value in second-hand designer pieces.

Host a sustainable fashion pop up - Partner with a local vintage or second hand designer clothing store for a pop up at Raan during LFW. Customers can explore and purchase pre-loved designer pieces.

  • Diwali - November

We recommend hosting a special party to celebrate Diwali that we can put forward to to press.

The chefs to create a special Diwali menu that includes traditional dishes and sweets. Decorate the restaurant with traditional Diwali decor.

Surprise Diwali dance performances and live music throughout the evening.

It would be a lovely touch for guests to light their own Diyas. Each guest can have their own Diya and they can place it in a designated spot within the restaurant.

Have henna artists on site to draw beautiful henna designs on their hands.

Send guests home with a small box of traditional Diwali treats.

  • Christmas - December

In addition to promoting your festive menus, we recommend a few other activities:

Festive workshops - Work with a local florist on a wreath workshop, where all of the materials are sustainable and the flowers are dried.

Host a sustainable gift pop-up, where customers can shop for locally-made, eco-friendly or handmade crafts.

Giving back - Encourage members of the community to donate toys, clothes and presents to families in need.

Work with the Felix Project to host a Christmas lunch for families who are unable to afford a proper meal.

  • NYE - December

We recommend hosting a NYE bash in the basement bar with live entertainment from local DJs. The evening could start off with dinner in the restaurant, followed by the party downstairs.

New Year’s Resolution Wall - set up a wall where guests can write their sustainable NYE resolutions for the year ahead.

Digital clock display - Countdown to midnight with a digital clock display on the wall and a huge cheers with sustainable sparkling wine at midnight.
