Tech-Powered Dining: Creating Sustainable Experiences

At Raan, sustainability and technology will coexist to enhance the overall dining experience. The aim is to educate guests on sustainability initiatives, but we want to take that a step further and show them how their choices are making an impact through the latest technology.

  • Interactive Menus

Keeping in line with being as sustainable as possible, we recommend doing away with traditional paper menus and utilising digital menus.

The menus can be accessed via NFC cards or tags that they can tap on a sensor at the table to access the digital menu.

The digital menus should provide details on the sustainability of each dish - where ingredients are sourced from and its eco-friendliness.

Guests can learn about the environmental impact of each choice.

To make the dining experience as seamless as possible, we recommend giving guests the option to input their dietary needs, and the menu will filter and recommend dishes that align with those requirements, thus reducing food waste.

  • Carbon Footprint Tracker

Raan could be one of the first in the UK to introduce a Carbon Footprint Tracker within its digital menus.

Within the CFT, guests would be able to calculate and track their footprint in real time as they order, so that they can make more sustainable choices throughout their meal.

We can collect user data if they decide to sign up and create a dining profile. They can store their previous orders as well as dietary requirements for next time.

As diners choose which menu items they want, the CFT will calculate the carbon footprint associated with each item. It’ll base it off of where ingredients come from, transportation of those ingredients, the food prep methods and the packaging.

The CFT could also provide tips for making better choices - it could recommend lower carbon alternatives or pairing options that have a reduced environmental impact.

  • NFT Eco-Certificates

Each customer that uses the CFT and creates a profile, can be eligible to earn a unique NFT eco-certificate.

The NFTs could be collectibles, each representing a different level of carbon footprint reduction. Bronze, Silver an Gold NFT’s would be given depending on the emissions reduced.

Those who collect specific NFTs would be rewarded with perks such as discounts on future meals, exclusive invites to events, access to special menu items, etc.
